Things to Know
This pottery workshop involves working with clay and traditional tools in a studio setting. The experience is designed to be accessible to all skill levels, though some hand strength and dexterity are helpful. Participants should be comfortable with getting their hands and clothing dirty, as clay work can be messy. All materials and tools are provided, including clay, traditional carving tools, and firing access. You may want to bring an apron or wear clothes that can get clay on them. The clay will need time to dry before firing, so your finished piece may need to be picked up at a later date or shipped to you. The workshop moves at a relaxed pace with breaks for learning, questions, and cultural storytelling. Your pottery piece will be fired using traditional methods when ready. Because this workshop involves sacred cultural practices and traditional techniques, participants are asked to be respectful, mindful, and open to learning from master potters who share their knowledge and stories. Workshops may be adjusted based on material availability or firing schedules. Come prepared for a hands-on experience that blends creative expression, cultural learning, and connection with ancient artistic traditions.
